Quoted & Reported Speech ^.^

Hey Guys,how are you? I hope you always in healthy and happy life. Now, I wanna share to you guys about the theory of reported speech(indirect speech) and quoted speech(direct speech). Hope you like it,enjoy! J
Direct Speech / Quoted Speech & Indirect Speech / Reported Speech
a.  Direct Speech / Quoted Speech à The sentence that re-write what someone’s say and the characteristic of this sentence that we always write with the quotation marks (“…”) on the beginning and end of sentence.For example : Tina said,”I like this strawberry ice cream.” Or “I want to choose this blue jeans”,said Rico.
b.   Indirect Speech/Reported Speech à The sentence that report the someone’s say to other people or to receive the message from someone to other people(from direct speech).The characteristic of this sentence that there is no quotation marks (“…”).For example :
Direct speech = Tina said,”I like this strawberry ice cream.”
Indirect Speech = Tina said thet she like that strawberry ice cream.

·        To change Direct Speech to Indirect speech,we must follow the rule grammar.The table below will showed the rules :

But there is no change to; could, would, should, might and ought to.

·        The uses for Said, told and asked :

Asked : to report question
Told : With object inside
Said:  Without object inside







Example of Conversation

Virga      : “Gisel,can I have some words with you?”
Gisel         : “Sure.What is it about?”
Virga      : “Well,I intend to set up a Harry Potter Fans Club  in our college.Here is the proposal.”
Gisel         : “What is the objective of setting up this club,anyway?”
Virga      : “First of all,the objective is to accommodate all the Harry Potter  fans in this college to share information,opinion and everything we know about Harry Potter.”
Gisel         : “And?”
Virga      : “Well,it is also aimed at improving the members’ literary appreciation ability.”
Gisel         : “Is there any more goal?”
Virga      : “Well I think those are the main goals,but you know,we can add more goals later on.”
Gisel         : “ Well,the way I see it,having a Harry Potter Fans Club at college wil not give much advantage to the students.Besides,there is already such a club in our town.You guys can join it.”
Virga      : “But it will be different when our college can have it too.”
Gisel         : “If I may suggest you,your club should not only focus on Harry Potter.I think you’d better make a kind of “Bookworm Club”,so many more people who love reading can join the club,and they can exchange information on the books they read.”
Virga      : “Hmm..such a cool idea.i’ll consider that idea and make a revised new proposal.I’’ll give it to you as soon as I have finished it.”
Gisel         : “Okay.You have my support.”
